INNER PEACE (2026)

Inner Peace (2026), watercolor on paper, 5x7in

Created while recovering from top surgery, Inner Peace is a watercolor composition of peace symbols drifting and ricocheting across the page. The work reflects a moment in my pursuit of calm and contentment while navigating the uncertainty, discomfort, and anxiety of a complicated healing process.

Suspended between playfulness and restlessness, the floating symbols become a visual meditation on the search for equilibrium during a period of physical and emotional vulnerability.

Combs (2021—2022)

This series is both a celebration and an exploration of history, culture, and the chasm experienced by Pan-African descendants. As a Black American, the untethered feeling from ancestry is deeply familiar. This body of work emerges as a gesture toward reconnection.

Depicting artifacts that span the African continent, the artist wonders what stories they may carry, contemplating both what is known and what will forever remain unknown.

Tie-dye provides a meditative backdrop. A foundation where layered emotions dissolve into washes of color, existing and evolving with each viewer who stands before them.

FOCUS (2011)

Spotify Premium Ad, 2019

What began as a fascination with color neutralization, the mixing of complementary colors to create gray, evolved into a deeper study of color theory and perception. In Focus (2011), Tyler attempted to achieve gray through each complementary pairing: red and green, blue and orange, and purple and yellow. Only one pairing successfully reached neutral, while the others became studies of hue, chroma, and the spectrum between colors.

Each composition maintains a consistent geometric structure, allowing color to function as the primary variable. Subtle shifts in pigment alter mood, spatial tension, and optical depth, demonstrating color’s ability to transform.
